Absolutely terrible company to do business with! Where do I start? In May 2021 they were contracted by my PA to replace the blue tarp on my roof with shrink wrap (Hurricane Sally Damage). The old blue tarp had been damaged in the months previous for multiple storms. They came out, went through the services they would be performing and had me sign an assignment. I was not home when they left. Only HALF of what was supposed to be wrapped was completed. Called my PA, he called them and had them come back out. Instead of shrink wrapping the rest of it like they were supposed to, they blue tarped it. Fine. At least it's covered and won't leak. Fast forward two months, July 2021. A young kid driving a company van stops in my house asking me to sign an assignment. I state that I already have. He states they "lost it". I ask to speak to a manager. Kid states, the manager won't answer my call. A couple hours later I get a call from the manager, Raymond White. I want to know; why am I signing a new assignment? He states they had some computer problems and lost a bunch of assignments, servers crashed, etc. The whole story is vague and sounds fishy but ok, fine. The other issues: my address isn't correct (they had an entirely unrelated address) and my name and contact information was grossly incorrect. (My name is not Joseph Ruthe). I also let him know I am not comfortable with signing BLANK assignment that does not state services listed or the cost. He tells me it's for the 2 times they came out to tarp my roof and the work they did inside my house. Ummmm, NO you did not do any work inside my house. I knew this didn't sound right and now I'm seeing more evidence why it isn't right. I let Raymond know, if he'll send me an assignment with the correction information AND the assignment is complete with the services rendered and cost, I"ll sign it, no problem. Next day, another young man shows up. Same blank assignment. He tells me "we're just going to let you fill out your information yourself". Ok, where the services rendered and cost, it's still blank? Long story short, Raymond and I are back on the phone having the same conversation where he tells me the same thing, stating it's for the 2 times for the tarping and work inside my house! Once again, JD Restoration NEVER PERFORMED ANY WORK INSIDE MY HOUSE! This goes back and forth for a couple of weeks and finally, I get an invoice (wrong personal information, again) via email. $10,497.37 for 1550 sq ft of shrink wrap. Let me remind you, a good portion of it isn't shrink wrap, it's blue tarp. July 13th, I provide all of my information again. July 21st. I text him again letting him know I haven't received the corrected AOB. He lets me know the office will be sending it.The 1st one he sent on July 21st went to junk. I didn't see it. He text and I let him know I don't have it. He resends it on July 27th. Same story. Address is finally correct, nothing else is. Still blank on services rendered and cost. I speak to my PA and an attorney. I'm advised not to sign a blank AOB. I don't. August 10th, 2:16 p.m. I get 3 emails in a row, within minutes, for signing and phone call. Different person. We need you to sign the AOB. I let him know I will review it with my PA and as long as it is correct and complete, I'll sign it. I review it before sending to PA. Same story. Still not correct or complete. 4:53 p.m. I get a second phone call. In a threatening manner I'm told if I refuse to sign the AOB now, they will come out and remove the shrink wrap. Are you serious? You're threatening me to try and coerce me into signing a blank document? That's like handing someone blank check and telling them to write it for whatever they want. Now I'm angry. I let him know if they show up on my property and trespass or try to get onto or remove anything from my property, It will end up bad and I will involve the law and my attorney. I let him know that I have already spoken to an attorney and been advised not sign a b

Miami-based JD Restorations expands its Florida footprint to Pensacola | New Business

When disaster strikes, homeowners often focus on repairing external damages that can be seen by the naked eye, such as structural blemishes, a leaky roof, or fallen trees. But lurking within the walls, ceilings, and air vents, is an invisible complication, one that can cause severe illness and further damage to your home.

“It is something that you can smell,” JD Restorations Office Manager Yessica Mendez said. “You may not always see it, but you can smell it.”

Due to its sheer size and malleable nature, as soon as a single mold particle interacts with water and moisture, it can take up to 48 hours on average for mold to spread quickly throughout every nook and cranny, such as under your carpets, behind your kitchen cabinets, and in your crawlspaces.

JD Restorations offers free mold inspections, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“You may repair the roof, for example, and that solves the problem from the outside,” Mendez said. “But that doesn’t solve the problem from the inside. People will go straight to the roofing company without thinking about the internal damage behind their walls.”

Mendez left her life practicing criminal law in Venezuela and came to America in search of better opportunities. After taking a wide variety of jobs, she found her place in restoration work.

“Starting over, it’s crazy,” Mendez said. “It’s been a change, but I fell in love with restorations. I started as a pack-out tech, where we take everything out of the house and into storage. We clean every item and rid it of mold before it can be brought back in.”

As the 2021 hurricane season gets in full swing, JD Restorations, located at 3357 Copter Road, Ste 8, in Pensacola, is ready to mediate and mitigate those damages caused by rising tide and storm surges.

“We’ve been here since Hurricane Sally, but we’re still very new here,” Mendez said. “We’re here to help them. People in Pensacola might think that we’re one of those companies that come and go, and we’re not.”

What started in 2013, by Jorge and Gerardo Dona as a company with one work truck and a few technicians in Miami, has now grown into an operation that now boasts five locations — in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Pensacola, and Houston, Texas — with the goal of having six locations by the end of this year.

“We’re not a franchise, that’s a big plus,” Mendez said. “JD Restoration is a family-owned company, and they treat us like family.”

JD Restorations also is no stranger to damage caused by water.

“It started when one of the pipes broke, and my house got flooded,” Dona said. “From then on, I saw the services provided and recognized the value of owning a restoration business.”

In addition to having a team of technicians who provide 24/7 service to its customers, JD Restorations is a company that holds several Institution of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certifications as well as licenses in mold assessment and remediation in Florida.

But JD Restorations isn’t limited to taking care of only mold or water damage. If your home is damaged by fire, JD Restorations offers services such as smoke removal and mitigating soot residue that resulted from burnt paper, upholstery, food particles, and building material.

JD Restorations also specializes in odor removal, caused by mold, tobacco use, raw sewage, multiple pets, and crime scenes, as well as providing services for residential and commercial buildings.

“We always put our clients first,” Dona said. “It can be so overwhelming, no clue where to start or who to call, but we want Pensacola to know that we’re here. We want them to see that we’re local, and they can count on us.”

JD Restorations offers free mold inspections, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information, visit www.jdrestorations.com or call 850-741-2042.
