Jarrett leads Coronado vs. Amarillo Caprock tonight in the first round of the playoffs. I'm really excited to finallysee him play in person.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Canyon.

I'll have my take on his performance, plus hopefully some video highlights and an interview.

I'll also post some quick thoughts during the game in the Insider during timeouts and at the end of quarters: http://www.scout.com/college/texas-tech/forums/3529-raiderpower-insider/15407153-going-to-watch-ttu-signee-jarrett-culver

I've seen him play twice this season.  You will be impressed with him, almost guaranteed.  He has 24'-30' range on his long ball.  Primary ballhandler as the offense goes through him.  If he gets an opening, he will take it to the hole, and can slam with the best of them.  Decent ballhandler.  Opportunistic on defense, takes advantage of his exceptional reach to get a few steals each game.  Doesn't break down in a stance much on defense, but makes up for it with instinctual play.  Protects himself from contact when possible to stay out of foul trouble (typical scorer's mentality).  Will probably score 30 points and you will wonder how he did it.

I've seen him play four games this season and agree with everything you mentioned.  He leads the team in every category including assists.  Averaging around 27 points a game.  Even though Tech will be loaded next year, I think Culver plays right away because he can score a bunch in a hurry.  He litit up again tonight!

Possibly the most talented high school basketball player to ever graduate from Lubbock. I've seen them all over the past 50 years. Several have played at Tech. Much more athletic and a better shooter than Ehlo who played 14 years in the NBA. Culverput up 42 points last night and does it so effortlessly. Time will tell. Comes from such an athletic family as his brother is an NCAA high jump champ at Tech.

"Much more athletic"? Based on what exactly? Just curious.

Light years ahead of J-Dub.  I'm friends with Josh, have no problem saying it.

To respond to Blackie, Jarrett probably has close to a 40" vertical.  When he dunks, his head is in the net.  Shouldn't be a surprise, since big brother is an Olympic high jumper.

Did not know that. I do remember Battie's NBA highlight was blocking a shot on Patrick Ewing. Of course, Ewing was 3-4 years past his prime.

Yeah, that was one of the best jokes James Dickey had -- "we've done a tremendous job of coaching Tony Battie from being 6'-7" to 6'-11"! tongue
