Lg dishwasher pump

My LG Dishwasher is showing the OE error code on the display. What does it mean and how do I fix it? It runs the dishwashing cycle but always stops right before the end of cycle and shows the OE error. What part or component of the dishwasher will cause this code to show?

LG Dishwasher Error Code OE - DRAINING ERROR - How To FixLG Dishwasher Error Code OE – DRAINING ERROR – How To Fix

The Most Common Cause for OE ERROR CODE = DRAIN ERROR. This means the water is not draining out of the dishwasher as designed. LG has given this error/fault code to show an issue with the dishwasher water drain pump. First, inspect the drain hose for a clog or bend. Second, inspect the dishwasher drain pump for any blockages in the pump housing assembly. Clean any and all blockages and the OE error code should clear. Also check the FLOAT SWITCH inside the LG dishwasher for obstructions.

An LG Dishwasher that displays the OE error indicates a DRAIN ISSUE. This means when the LG dishwasher gets to the time for it to drain out water, it is not draining correctly or cannot drain. This is caused by a CLOGGED DRAIN HOSE or a CLOGGED OR FAULTY DRAIN PUMP.

The most likely reason an LG dishwasher shows the OE error is the DRAIN HOSE IS BENT, CLOGGED, OR NOT POSITIONED PROPERLY.
– Be sure the Dishwasher Drain Hose on your LG washer is not bent/kinked.
– Check that the Dishwasher Drain Hose is not clogged with food particles.
– See if the Dishwasher Drain Hose may not be draining if the wall drain is blocked/clogged.
– Make sure the Dishwasher has either a HIGH DRAIN LOOP or AIR GAP installed. (without one of these, the dishwasher may drain but will usually leave WATER IN BOTTOM OF DISHWASHER)
– If you find the Dishwasher Drain Hose to be damaged in any way, remove and replace it.

The part that is most likely to be faulty (or blocked/clogged) is the Dishwasher Drain Pump.
– Make sure the Dishwasher Drain Pump has nothing blocking it in the pump housing assembly.
– Examine the Dishwasher Drain Pump for damage such as cracks and breaks.
– After thoroughly checking the Dishwasher Drain Pump and the error code comes back then the Drain Motor Pump Assembly may need to be removed and replaced.

Checking the drain hose(depending on how the dishwasher is installed) will involve removing the Drain Hose from the bottom of the dishwasher and visually inspecting it.

Examining the drain pump will involve removing all dishwasher racks and checking down in sump to be sure nothing is blocking the drain. If all clear, the drain pump will need to accessed to see if food, foreign objects or broken glass is blocking it.

How to Replace the Pump Motor in an LG Dishwasher

Step 1

Locate and turn off the power supply for the LG dishwasher. In a typical setup, the LG dishwasher will be wired into the main wiring controlled from the main circuit breaker. Identify which switch controls the dishwasher and flip it to the "Off" setting.

Step 2

Open up the LG dishwasher door. Remove the lower dishwasher rack.

Step 3

Pry off the cap on the center arm of the dishwasher. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolt holding the arm in place. Pull the dishwasher arm straight up and off the hub.

Step 4

Remove the bolts holding the pump in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Step 5

Look between the door and the cabinet for any screws on the top part of the kick panel positioned beneath the door. Remove these if found. Close the dishwasher door.

Step 6

Remove the screws from the sides of the kick panel. Pull the kick panel off the front of the LG dishwasher.

Step 7

Look for the motor positioned in the center of the underside of the cabinet. Loosen the hose clamp on the side of the motor. Pull off the drain hose and clamp.

Step 8

Disconnect the power cables from the dishwasher motor. On most LG dishwasher motors, the cables are hooked up into a plastic socket, which is then plugged into the side of the dishwasher motor. Grab the socket with a pair of needlenose pliers and pull it off the side of the motor.

Step 9

Reach inside the cabinet. Grab the motor by the central washer arm hub. Pull it up and out of the socket in the bottom of the cabinet.

Step 10

Remove the washer seal from the old pump. Slip it into place around the central hub of the new LG dishwasher motor.

Step 11

Insert the LG dishwasher motor into the socket in the bottom of the dishwasher cabinet. Secure with the motor bolts through the bottom of the cabinet.

Step 12

Slip the spray arm over the hub. Secure with the spray arm bolt. Replace the spray arm cap.

Step 13

Slip the drain hose connection back over the outlet on the pump. Secure with a hose clamp. Plug the electrical socket back into the side of the pump.

Step 14

Replace the kick panel and secure with the screws.

Step 15

Restore power to the LG dishwasher.

LG Dishwasher - new drain issue. Advice needed please.

Well, I have an admission or two to make.

I've had the dishwasher outside for dismantling and installing a new drain pump and/or running through its cycles, and I noticed by chance that if the drain hose was at a certain height, the washer ran through a full cycle OK. As I've read somewhere, the pump needs a certain amount of back pressure to operate correctly.

My admission is that I didn't take the hose height and air gap requirement seriously.

I've also had an extension on the drain hose of about mm for 5 years without apparent problem.

When I originally pulled the drain pump out, there was an olive pip inside. But with the olive pip removed, even with a new pump installed, I had continuing drain issues, probably because of the drain hose location and height.

So I reinstalled the original pump, and with drain hose at the correct height, ran through several cycles without a glitch.

Over the last few years there has been several OE drain issues, that I now think could be related to the fact that when the sink is in use, there is no air gap, and so if the dishwasher is running, the drain pump has to push water past the S trap to drain away. I've now installed a stand pipe that drains directly to the drainage system without going via the sink S trap. I presume sink's with a built-in overflow provide the air gap, but otherwise many drain hoses could be installed incorrectly if connected to a conventional sink S trap.

So thanks for taking the time to consider the problem. Maybe had I stepped through Sam's link with more care I might have arrived at the solution more quickly. But I've learned quite a bit in the process!

Thanks again.

How to Replace a Damaged Pump Gasket in Your LG Dishwasher

The pump gasket in your LG dishwasher model LDSWW is located around the edge of the pump. It&#;s the main job is to stop leaks from occurring between the pump housing and the filter housing. Due to age and exposure to dishwasher detergent, the rubber seal can become brittle. Cracks in the gasket can lead to leaks underneath your dishwasher. If you need to replace the pump gasket in your dishwasher, simply follow the repair guide provided below.

How to Replace the Pump Gasket in Your Dishwasher

Never start a repair before unplugging your appliance or turning it off at the circuit breaker. Always wear safety goggles and work gloves to protect your eyes and hands from injury as you work on fixing your appliance.

  1. Open your dishwasher&#;s door and remove the upper and lower dish racks.

  2. Pull up on the lower spray arm to remove it from your appliance.

  3. To release the water guide retaining clip, use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the screw near the base of the water guide tube. Now pull the water guide off the upper and rear mounting brackets. Once the guide is loose, rotate it to release it from the filter assembly.

  4. Remove all the screws that secure the filter assembly to the dishwasher&#;s tub. After the screws are detached, lift the filter assembly up and take it out of your appliance.

  5. Take the old pump gasket off the pump, and install the new gasket around the pump housing.

  6. Reinstall the filter housing and secure it with the screws you removed earlier

  7. Insert the water guide into the opening in the filter housing. Rotate the guide to lock it in place. Push the tube into the rear and upper mounting brackets, and reattach the retaining clip at the bottom of the water guide.

  8. Snap the lower wash arm into place by pushing down on it. After the spray arm is secure, spin it around to ensure it rotates freely. Reinsert the upper and lower dish racks, and close your dishwasher&#;s door.

  9. Plug your appliance back in or turn it on at the circuit breaker. Fill your dishwasher with dirty dishes, and run a wash cycle to test out the new pump gasket.
