Welcome to Apple Discussions.

This* is the correct power cord: a It is designed to fit all intel-processor based iMac models, and is available in localized versions for many nations outside the US.

The other suggestions aren't even close…

I can't tell you the part number but have you tried an Apple Store?

If you have trouble in getting one you can use any kettle lead with the same type connector.

That one is way cheaper and would work, but I would order the following cord with the magnetic flange for a G5 or Intel iMac.

Hi Michael

The link I posted above is for the same cord, but I have to admit that your price is much better.

I may not have been sufficiently careful reading the page at that link, as I noted that it referred to the , which—as you know—is used with the iMac product family based upon the PowerPC G4 processor.

Though the power cord used with the iMac G5 product family looks nearly identical to the later , there is a subtle difference between the thickness of the plastic collar on the end which attaches to the machine across the two parts.

Sorry… You are correct about what I referred to: I was looking at the prior post by another contributor.

WeLoveMacs has identified the correct part for this specific application, but their contention that " *Apple has replaced this part with part " is simply incorrect. Apple has not done so, and though the parts appear very similar, they are different.

This is a commonly encountered problem in the industry, however, as many vendors just don't have the degree of knowledge required to properly identify specific parts, and often convey erroneous information.

No problem!

The important thing is that by good participation on our part, the OP has more than one source for finding the correct power cord.
