University of Kansas Student Chapter of AGC (The Associated General Contractors of America)

A first step toward becoming a Professional Constructor

Membership in one of AGC's nationally chartered student chapters offers an extraordinary opportunity to learn more about construction, to further develop your abilities, and to observe at close quarters the industry in which you will work after graduation.

Just as a building or suspension bridge is greater that the sum of its parts, an educational experience is also more than the combination of academic and practical experiences. For this reason, we believe that your membership in an AGC student chapter will prove to be a wise step.

Benefits Membership in an AGC Student Chapter means...

  • Networking opportunities with other students of similar interest and career goals
  • Closer contact with construction faculty
  • Contacts with nearby AGC chapter staff and access to their experience and services
  • Opportunities to visit and learn from local construction projects
  • Possibilities of meeting and working with AGC contractors (potential future employers)
  • Contractor member prices on all AGC standard publications
  • Prompt notice of all scholarships sponsored by the AGC Education & Research Foundation
  • Greatly reduced registration fees for the AGC Annual Convention
  • An AGC student chapter meeting and student lounge area conducted during AGC's Annual Convention
  • An AGC student chapter booth at AGC's Annual Convention
  • An opportunity to impact your community through the AGC Outstanding Student Chapter Contest

Campus student chapter activities may include:

  • Representation on campus committees and councils
  • Campus service projects
  • Involvement in career day fairs
  • Participation in intramural sports
  • Campus construction projects

Local chapter activities may include:

  • Chapter meetings with special presentations, guest speakers and films
  • Field trips to construction projects and site tours
  • Sponsoring seminars related to construction
  • Participation in AGC chapter activities
  • Organization of student employment program
  • Social and networking activities
  • Attendance at AGC's Annual Convention
