BILLERICA — A year-old Billerica man was killed Wednesday when his pickup truck struck a tree shortly after p.m., and a collision Thursday morning between a dump truck and a car left a year-old boy with life-threatening injuries and another teen with serious injuries in a horrific 24 hours on local roads.

Injuries were also reported in a crash in Littleton, where a tractor-trailer rolled onto its side on a ramp from Interstate , and in Westford, where a crash was reported on Forge Village Road, according to emergency radio broadcasts.

In Billerica, police said in a press release that a Chevrolet Silverado driven by William Collins was traveling on Concord Road when it went over the curb and struck a tree near French Street, according to callers who reported the crash.

When emergency crews arrived, two people were attempting to assist the driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck. Billerica Police officers took over care of Collins, along with fire and paramedic units. Collins was transported to Lahey Hospital in Burlington with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

&#;The Billerica Police Department extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Collins,&#; Billerica Police said in the release.

Billerica Police Deputy Chief Roy Frost said Thursday afternoon the cause of the single-vehicle crash remains under investigation, though foul play does not appear to be a factor. Police are investigating the cause of the wreck with assistance from the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Middlesex District Attorney&#;s Office.

Thursday a little before a.m., emergency crews in Hudson, N.H., were called to Dracut Road near Pine Road for a report of a motor vehicle collision with possible entrapment shortly before a.m., according to a Hudson Police Department press release. Upon arrival, Hudson firefighters began treatment for the injured, while Hudson Police began an investigation of the crash.

Police said a preliminary investigation suggests a Toyota Avalon, operated by a year-old Hudson resident, was headed east on Pine Road approaching the stop sign at Dracut Road. The vehicle was also occupied by a year-old Hudson resident, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. According to police, a Volvo Dump Truck, operated by year-old Robert Spadjinske, of Troy, N.H., was traveling north on Dracut Road, approaching Pine Road.

Police said the crash occurred when the driver of the Toyota attempted to cross Dracut Road to Sanders Road and collided with the dump truck. Both vehicles came to a rest on the lawn of a Dracut Road residence, north of Pine and Sanders roads, according to police.

The year-old passenger of the Toyota was airlifted by MedFlight to Tufts Medical Center in Boston for treatment of what police said were life-threatening injuries. The year-old operator of the car was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, in Nashua, N.H., by Hudson Fire Ambulance for &#;possible serious bodily injury,&#; according to police. Spadjinske received medical care on scene and refused any further treatment, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Hudson Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team. State Police Troop G was contacted to assist with the crash due to the commercial vehicle&#;s involvement. Anyone who witnessed the Hudson collision is asked to contact Capt. David Bianchi at

About an hour later, Massachusetts State Police and Littleton firefighters responded to a crash in which a tractor trailer hauling a load of trash rolled onto its side on the off ramp between King Street (Route 2A) in Littleton and Interstate , according to State Police.

A year-old Winchendon man who was driving the truck was taken to a local hospital with what were described as minor injuries, according to a State Police spokesman. The driver was cited for several motor vehicle offenses following an investigation by the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, according to a State Police spokesman. MassDOT also responded to the scene since the ramp was closed for about two hours while the crash was cleaned up and investigated.

Another crash was reported on Forge Village Road in Westford, but Westford Police did not immediately respond to a message seeking details.

Dan Phelps contributed to this report.
