Avoid Digital Surveillance With Ghost

Call of Duty Warzone best perks – the top perks for surviving in COD battle royale

You’ll drop into Verdansk empty-handed at the start of every Warzone match, but you can use some of the Call of Duty Warzone best perks if you manage to find or buy a loadout drop to kit yourself out. Getting one of your custom loadouts in any Warzone match should be one of your main goals since it will set you above any players without one. You’ll have access to your own custom weapons and of course your three chosen perks. Different perks will suit different playstyles, so experiment with them all to see what suits how you play. In no particular order, here are the best perks to use in Call of Duty Warzone.

Double Time

Double Time is the best all-rounder mobility perk for Warzone. Its main function doubles the duration of your tactical sprint – the super quick sprint that is activated by double-tapping the sprint button – allowing you to cover a greater distance at high speed. Warzone’s map has lots of open spaces between points-of-interest with little to no cover, so being able to get across these quickly and safely is crucial and Double Time will really help. Moreover, in the tighter interior spaces and buildings, you’ll be able to quickly sprint up flights of stairs or get away into other rooms thanks to Double Time.

That’s not all though as this perk also increases your walking speed while crouched by 30%, which will help out a little when you’re trying to remain agile while aiming more accurately. You’ll be able to move quickly and quietly through buildings and will be less of a sitting duck while crouched if you’ve mastered strafing. Double Time is never a bad option for any loadout but is really useful for aggressive run-and-gun playstyles and more stealthy approaches.


Given the availability of explosives in Call of Duty Warzone, EOD can come in very handy when trying to survive and get a win. This perk reduces the damage you take from non-killstreak explosives and fire – that’s things like frag grenades, Semtex, C4, launcher rockets, and Molotov cocktails. Warzone players can very easily pick up most of these items and catch you off guard with them, so having EOD to shield you is very useful and might help you save on refilling your armor plates. If you’re a launcher enthusiast, EOD is also going to help you survive your own rocket and grenade blasts if you find yourself misplacing some C4 or purposefully using a launcher up close. The second part of EOD – resets frag grenade fuses when you throw them back – is not hugely useful given how rare the need to throw a frag back at your foe is, but it’s still a nice bonus.


Ghost functions as a classic Call of Duty countermeasure perk that makes it harder for the enemy to pinpoint your location. Specifically, it makes you undetectable on UAVs, radar drones, and heartbeat sensors. Radar drones and heartbeat sensors can be picked up by anyone in Warzone, so having something to counter those is very useful. UAVs cost a fair amount of money so they’re not as easy to get, but the massive player counts in Warzone means several players will always have one ready to go. As the remaining players gather more money, UAVs will become more frequent, so staying off the radar will allow you to get the drop on those last few players. It’s worth noting that a coordinated team or a particularly wealthy player will be able to get an advanced UAV which will be able to spot you, although it doesn’t last very long.


Tempered is a Warzone-specific perk that is extremely helpful if you have problems staying armored up. With Tempered, you can fully armor yourself with just two plates instead of three. This will massively reduce the time it takes for you to refill your plates fully, giving you more of chance to get to full strength in the middle of a fight. As standard, you can hold five plates in Warzone, which is only enough for one full plate refill with two extra plates. With Tempered, you’ll be able to get two full armor refills and still have one to spare, so you’ll be able to stay alive much easier at any stage of a match, provided you can keep stocked up on plates.


Having two primary weapons in your class sounds like it might be too much, but it’s exactly what Overkill allows you to do, and it can be very helpful in Warzone. The huge map size and tall buildings mean sniping is an incredibly effective strategy, but when it’s time to fight up close, bringing in a more general-purpose assault rifle or SMG in place of a pistol will be very useful. The caveat is that your weapon switching speed will be slower as a result of carrying two primaries, however the next perk, Amped, will really help.


Having Amped equipped allows you switch between your weapons more quickly. This will especially benefit you in close combat gunfights where you might need to switch to your secondary weapon since it’s always faster than reloading. If you’re using a more run-and-gun loadout that uses Overkill for double primary weapon, Amped is an essential pick to make sure you can be reactive in any fight. As an added bonus, Amped will also allow you to reload launchers more quickly if you’re into that type of explosive weapon. Be sure to use EOD too if you do this!

Combat Scout

Like Tempered, Combat Scout is another Warzone-specific perk except it’s focus in on recon and marking your enemies. With Combat Scout equipped, enemies you hit will be briefly highlighted and marked for your squadmates. This is probably less useful for solo players, but coordinated teams with multiple Combat Scout users will be able to keep track of their enemies easily, so long as they can fire accurately and hit their shots. The highlighting and marking is very brief, so it’s something you’ll have to be actively looking for, otherwise you can almost blink and miss it. If you’re a high enough level in Warzone, Tracker is another great recon-based perk that allows you to see enemy footprints that you should definitely try as well if you have it.

As with most battle royales, Call of Duty: Warzone matches start with dropping down and scavenging the best ground loot you can find. Staying alive is the primary objective, but you'll likely want to grab enough cash for the hefty $10k price tag of a loadout drop. Or maybe you don't scrounge up enough money, so you wait for the free loadout drop to arrive. Regardless, you want to make sure that your custom tailored loadout is going to give you the best chance at survival.

Gun builds are generally the focus of custom loadouts, as the weapon meta is constantly shifting, but the perks you choose can definitely factor into whether or not you win or lose your gunfights in Warzone.

Maybe you're new to Warzone, or maybe it's been awhile since you've given your perks a second glance. It's easy to set perks for each loadout and forget about them. Despite the shift to the Cold War and Season 3's new Verdansk '84 map, Warzone still uses Modern Warfare's perks. The perk selection never changes, and it's rare for a shift in the meta to require you to change them up.

The one real exception being something like the popularity of thermal scopes, which occurred shortly before or around the start of Season 1. During that time I switched the first perk on some of my classes to Cold Blooded, because Cold Blooded keeps you from being detected by thermal optics. Once the meta shifted away from thermal scopes, Cold Blooded was no longer the smart choice for the first perk slot. Not enough players use thermal scopes to make it more viable than something like E.O.D., which reduces the damage you take from non-killstreak explosives and fire. You're much more likely to get semtex or grenades thrown at you than you are to get picked off by someone with a thermal scope.

E.O.D. is the top choice for the first perk slot, because again, it reduces explosive damage taken from non-killstreak explosives and fire. If you're pinned down in a building and don't have a trophy system to intercept enemy equipment, you'll want E.O.D. to help you avoid dying to a barrage of enemy grenades or some molotovs.

Double Time

Double Time is another solid choice for the first perk slot. Mobility is important in Warzone, whether you're pushing an enemy squad or just trying to escape the circle of gas with your life. And Double Time allows you to Tactical Sprint for longer, as well as boosts your crouch movement speed by 30%.

The benefits of both E.O.D. and Double Time far outweigh the other options in the perk one category. If you're still running Scavenger to resupply ammo from dead players, consider swapping to E.O.D. or Double Time for standard Warzone matches. You will likely find enough ammo without the perk. You'd only really need to consider Scavenger for something like Rebirth Island, where players won't always have a lot of ammo to scavenge. But even then, I still don't think it's more crucial than the benefits that come from E.O.D. or Double Time.

Ghost is the most commonly used perk in Warzone. This perk makes you undetectable by UAVs, radar drones, and heartbeat sensors. Your life matters so much in battle royale, especially in non-respawn modes, so it's important to keep yourself off the radar. With the threat of enemy UAVs and the fact that heartbeat sensors are so commonly used, Ghost is a no-brainer for the second perk slot.

However, you might want to dedicate a few loadouts to Overkill. The Overkill perk allows you to equip two primary weapons, making an Overkill loadout a great pick for your first loadout drop. This gives you the best chance at winning the early gunfights, as you'll have two primary weapons that provide you with effectiveness at the various ranges. So, this is where you'd pair your preferred long-range weapon with your best close- to mid-range gun.

If you are able to score an early first loadout with Overkill, eventually, you'll want to pick up a second loadout and switch to a Ghost class. The matches tend to slow down and get a bit more campy near the end, so you'll want to make sure you get off enemy radars.

Restock is the only other second perk option worth suggesting here. Restock recharges your equipment over 50 seconds. This is mostly for those really aggressive playstyles. Players with Restock likely have stun grenades as their equipment with the intention of seeking out the fights.

Overall, Ghost is your overall most important and effective second perk. Depending on your playstyle, you might choose Overkill or Restock for some more aggressive options. But if you're a quieter player or squad looking to drop somewhere lowkey and loot, maybe you just stick with Ghost loadouts.

Amped is undoubtedly the top choice for the third perk slot. It provides faster weapon swap and rocket launcher reload speed. There's nothing worse than losing gunfights because you needed to reload, and you died while trying to switch weapons. Amped lets you swap weapons with barely any delay, and it's a very noticeable difference in time if you're not running this perk.

The only other third perk that could be viable for Warzone is Tracker, which allows you to see enemy footprint trails, so it can be helpful for players who like to hunt down bounty contracts. I see a lot of players run Tracker in solo, and maybe that's worth your risk of losing out on the faster weapon swap, but tracking players footsteps in something like trios or squads won't be as useful. You'll want Amped equipped to help you fight off multiple enemies.

Just like weapons, perks can come down to personal playstyle preferences, but Ghost and Amped are highly recommended for most of your loadouts. And unless there's another thermal shift in the meta, you shouldn't have to worry about adjusting your perks again.

Your choice of Perks in Warzone is nearly as important as your choice of weaponry, and can absolutely be the difference between death and victory. Plus, Warzone Season 5 has added some long-overdue new Perks to play with, so the meta is finally shifting. In this Warzone Season 5 Perks guide, we'll talk in detail about Combat Scout, Tempered, and each of the other 18 Perks in Warzone, how they work, and which ones will give you the very best chance of victory.

The best Warzone Perks

Below we'll talk a little bit about every single Perk in Warzone, but let's not keep you in suspense: the very best Perks in Warzone are E.O.D, Ghost, Overkill, Amped, and Combat Scout. But seeing as you can only have three Perks active at a time, it's still worth reading through our explanations below to figure out which Perks to take forward depending on your situation.

Perks are divided into three groups. Out of each group you must choose just one Perk to activate. Here are our rankings for the best Perks in Warzone within each group:

Double Time

  • Effect: Double the duration of Tactical Sprint. Increase crouch movement speed by 30%.
  • Perk Slot: 1

Double Time is a decent Perk which might be the go-to pickup for your first slot if E.O.D. didn't exist. While not quite as powerful in Warzone as it is in the more close-quarters engagements of Modern Warfare multiplayer modes, a 30% crouch movement speed increase is always welcome, and the doubled Tactical Sprint duration is great for quickly moving across flat open expanses and minimising the amount of time you spend as an easy target.


  • Effect: Take reduced damage from non-killstreak explosives and fire. When picking up frag grenades, reset the fuse.
  • Perk Slot: 1

With the prevalence of C4 and other explosives in Warzone, E.O.D. is pretty much a must-have Perk. We don't really care that much about being able to reset the fuse on Frag Grenades (let's face it, that opportunity really doesn't come up often), but the reduction in damage of non-killstreak explosives is huge. It gives you a fighting chance even after being hit hard by a Semtex or RPG. You may not know, in fact, that E.O.D. will clamp the damage you take under certain circumstances so that even if you're wearing just a tiny portion of armour, you won't take any health damage from an explosion (unless it's a direct hit). Powerful stuff.


  • Effect: Resupply ammo from dead players. Scavenger packs provide throwing knives.
  • Perk Slot: 1

Scavenger is too niche to be useful in Warzone. It is also a perfect example of a Perk that was designed for Modern Warfare multiplayer modes, and could really do with an alternate effect in Warzone in order to make it at all viable. Ammo is far too easy to come by, and you generally gain a tonne of ammo from dead players anyway, so this is possibly the most useless Perk in all of Warzone.


  • Effect: Undetectable by AI targeting system and thermal optics. Does not trigger High Alert warning and negates Combat Scout.
  • Perk Slot: 1

Cold-Blooded’s popularity, like Ghost, depends heavily on the prevalence of the tools it counters. Back before the Thermal Optics nerf Cold-Blooded had more utility, but now it really is just a counter to players with High Alert and Combat Scout. And since High Alert is very often turned down in favor of Ghost or Overkill, it really is going to depend on the popularity of the new Combat Scout perk. If a large swath of the player base does end up sacrificing Amped for Combat Scout, Cold-Blooded is going to become a very important part of the meta.

Kill Chain

  • Effect: Increases your chance of finding killstreaks in supply boxes. No effect in Warzone Rumble.
  • Perk Slot: 1

I suppose there's some utility in having an increased chance of finding Killstreak rewards in supply boxes, but: imagine a situation where this Perk is genuinely the difference between life and death. That's a pretty darn niche situation, don't you think? I don't see any reason to pick Kill Chain over E.O.D. or Cold-Blooded.

Quick Fix

  • Effect: Killing players immediately starts health regeneration.
  • Perk Slot: 1

Quick Fix is another Perk that's really designed for Modern Warfare rather than Warzone. On the face of it, a quicker health regeneration after killing an enemy seems pretty useful; but then you remember how quick and easy it is to add Armor Plates in Warzone, and you'll see how much of a waste of a Perk slot it would be.

  • Effect: Armor Plates absorb 75 damage each instead of 50. Operators are considered “fully-armored” at two plates instead of three.
  • Perk Slot: 2

More simply put, Tempered lets the user reach the max health of 250 with two Armor Plates instead of three. There are times where armoring up a little faster with this new Warzone Season 5 perk will save your life. However, there are many, many more situations where not having Ghost will cost you the game. UAVs are just so prevalent in Warzone. Until their availability is drastically reduced, Ghost will have no meaningful competition in Slot 2.


  • Effect: Recharge equipment over 50 seconds. Throwing Knives can recharge 1 extra knife. Decoy Grenades and Stim recharge twice as fast.
  • Perk Slot: 2

Restock is not useless by any means - in fact it does find its place in certain loadouts that are specifically geared for heavy equipment use. I've even found success using Restock to give me an endless supply of Snapshot Grenades as an uncounterable alternative to the Heartbeat Sensor. But overall, this Perk comes pretty low in the tier list of Slot 2 Perks.


  • Effect: 25% off kiosk prices for killstreaks, field upgrades, and armor plates No effect in Warzone Rumble.
  • Perk Slot: 2

Sometimes in a bigger squad you might have one player use Hardline, then pool your Cash for that one person to buy everything. It may not affect loadout drop marker prices, but subsequent purchases after your first loadout will be made quite a bit more attainable. However, eventually that one player popping up on an UAV is going to get your whole squad killed. You just can't justify hanging onto Hardline for long.


  • Effect: Carry two primary weapons. Cannot equip two of the same weapon. Secondaries cannot be equipped.
  • Perk Slot: 2

While not as essential in Warzone as it is in Modern Warfare multiplayer modes, Overkill is one of the most-picked Perks for custom player loadouts, and it's easy to see why. Many players pick up an Overkill loadout early in a Warzone match to help get themelves set up quickly, then later on pick up another loadout to give themselves Ghost. It's a very powerful strategy which has dominated the Perks meta for some time now.

High Alert

  • Effect: Your vision pulses when enemies outside of your view see you.
  • Perk Slot: 2

If High Alert weren't in a group with Ghost and Overkill, it would be an absolute must-have. Seriously, I think it's the third-best Perk in Warzone. It's just a shame that players are obviously going to pick the first- and second-best Perks instead. But particularly in solos, the ability to gain a warning that an enemy is aiming at you is priceless. And seeing as extremely few players nowadays use Cold-Blooded, maybe it's time for a High Alert renaissance.


  • Effect: Undetectable by UAVs, Radar Drones, and Heartbeat Sensors. Still appear on radar when firing a weapon. Detectable by Advanced UAV, but removes direction.
  • Perk Slot: 2

Much like how the strength of Cold-Blooded is based on the popularity of High Alert and Combat Scout, the strength of Ghost is based on the prevalance of Heartbeat Sensors and UAVs. And seeing as those two things are absolutely everywhere in Warzone, Ghost is probably the most powerful and essential Perk to use in the second half of a Warzone match. The ability to stay off the radar is unbelievably powerful in Warzone.


  • Effect: All members of your team earn more money from completed missions. No effect in Warzone Rumble.
  • Perk Slot: 2

Much like Hardline, Pointman increase your Cash levels throughout a Warzone match. But Pointman gets the short end of the stick because its effectiveness is reliant on you going mission-crazy, while Hardline just does its thing at all times. No one should ever pick Pointman to compete in Warzone. Think about what you're giving up! And for what?!

Combat Scout

  • Effect: Damaging an enemy briefly highlights and automatically pings them.

At long last, Amped has some real competition. Combat Scout is one of the two new perks added with Cold War Season 5, and it’s looking powerful. The highlight effect is extremely useful in close-quarters fights, particularly when chasing enemies through buildings. It is much harder for someone to reposition, armor up, and reset the fight when you can track them through walls. There are certainly still situations where not having Amped will get you killed, but Combat Scout is absolutely worth a shot.

Tune Up

  • Effect: Reduce revive time by 25%.
  • Perk Slot: 3

I actually quite like Tune Up. Reducing revive time by 25% is actually a significant benefit even in solos (yes, it works with self-revives too), and can help get you back on your feet after being downed in a long-range encounter before the enemy has time to close the distance and finish you off. It's just a shame that Tune Up is overshadowed completely by Amped and Combat Scout.


  • Effect: Faster weapon swap and rocket launcher reload speed. Does not affect swapping to pistols and knives. Most equipment is used faster.
  • Perk Slot: 3

Amped has long been the clear winner of slot 3. The ability to swap between weapons as quickly as possible an absolute lifesaver in Warzone. Not to mention the tertiary (and again, extremely powerful) effect of equipment being used faster, including the application of new Armor Plates! Combat Scout has enough utility to make Amped a less obvious choice, but it is clearly still one of the best Perks in Warzone.


  • Effect: Spawn with an extra piece of lethal equipment. Explosive damage delays enemy health regeneration. Regeneration delay is 3 seconds.
  • Perk Slot: 3

Shrapnel's power is lessened both by the increased health pools in Warzone and the popularity of E.O.D., which acts as a strong deterrent for explosives of all kinds. It's certainly not useless - with enough C4 on your person you can deal with an entire team in short order. But there are definitely better Perks to pick.

Battle Hardened

  • Effect: Reduce strength of enemy flash, stun, EMP, and gas effects. Immune to snapshot grenades.
  • Perk Slot: 3

This is the only Perk that I'd say could reasonably be used instead of Amped - but only for late-game small-circle situations. If you're gunning to win the match, then one of the biggest obstacles in your path is the flashbangs and stun grenades of the enemy team(s). With Battle Hardened, you can mitigate the potentially disastrous effects of these throwables, which could lead to a Warzone victory.


  • Effect: See enemy equipment, field upgrades, and killstreaks through walls. Mark them for your team by aiming down sights. Hack enemy Claymores, Proximity Mines, C4, and Trophy Systems. Advanced UAVs cannot be marked.
  • Perk Slot: 3

Spotter is near-useless in Warzone. The map is too large for you to be worried about players camping in buildings with Claymores and Proximity Mines at every entrance. And seeing as you should be running E.O.D., even if you get hit by one of these explosives it's likely not going to be a game-ender anyway.


  • Effect: Enemies leave behind a footprint trail. See markers at enemy death locations and hide the death markers of enemies you kill.
  • Perk Slot: 3

The potential benefits of Tracker are similarly clamped by the sheer size of Verdansk and the increased range of most encounters in Warzone compared with regular Modern Warfare. The chances of temporary footprints on the ground actually making the difference is quite slim, and you're probably better off with Combat Scout anyways.

The best Perks for Warzone

Perks have been a staple of all the best Warzone loadouts the game has to offer, so why not find out more about the best Warzone perks in general? Some classes have very similar perk combinations, but with the addition of recent brand new perks exclusive to Warzone, it's well worth going through and figuring out which works best.

In this guide, I've gone through and explained the viable perks in each category, with a bit of information on how best to use them and in which loadouts they work best. Enjoy!

Best Perks in Warzone

In each of the perk tiers, there are a total of 6-7 perks, and you can only pick one of each in your loadout. Not all of them are created equal, and they do not stack. For example, if you get a loadout with EOD then get another loadout with Double Time, you'll only get the benefit of the most recent set of perks you've collected. In this case, that's Double Time.

Now that's all sorted, here's all the info you need.

Best choices for Warzone Perk 1

There are some solid choices for the first perk slot. Here are my very favourites.


EOD is the perk you'll most often see recommended to you in the top loadouts for Warzone in my guides. This is because it's just so useful, all of the time. Enemies will often push you with Semtex or Thermite grenades, or hunker down using Claymores or Proximity Mines for cover. EOD is fantastic for avoiding a grisly death and will frequently give you just enough time and health to win a fight you otherwise would've lost. When in doubt, pick EOD.


Cold-Blooded used to be massively popular back in the very early days of Warzone when everyone and their auntie used thermal optics. Those days are gone, but Cold-Blooded still makes a decent splash in the current meta because of its proxy buff. You don't trigger the High Alert warning when looking at enemies, and Combat Scout does not affect you when you run Cold-Blooded. We'll talk more about those perks later, but let's just say that you're in a really good place with ice in your veins.

Double Time

I'm not as into this one as I am the other two choices in the Perk 1 category, but Double Time undoubtedly has its uses. It boosts your tactical sprint duration, which is nice but not as necessary if you know how to slide-cancel, and also improves your crouch movement speed. This second bonus is what you're really here for, as it lets you move much quicker while still being all but silent moving towards and surprising enemies.

Best choices for Perk 2

I wish I could pick three perks from this section. Alas, we must prioritise.


Most of the loadouts I write are based on the assumption that you'll use the Overkill perk. Having two primary weapons is so absurdly powerful that I'll usually take it unless I happen to have salvaged an ideal loadout from a kill or gained ridiculously lucky ground loot. Obviously, it doesn't give you any extra bonuses, but Overkill is worth using anyway, and you can try to get a different perk later - you'll be able to keep your Overkill gun by picking it back up.


Everyone knows why Ghost is here. It's just so darn good. Taking you off the radar for UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors means you'll be at a huge advantage when the final circles close in, and any victories I've somehow managed to get have been partly down to this perk. If in doubt, pick Ghost. There's a reason almost half of people do (according to WZRanked).

High Alert

From here, we'll be going into more niche picks, but ones that can serve you extremely well if you're comfortable playing without being Ghosted. High Alert shows you a directional pulse on your screen when you're being aimed at (as long as the enemy isn't using Cold Blooded). This gives you that extra split second to know bullets are coming and divert yourself to cover, which can be a big saving grace if you're caught short. The added bonus though? Players using Dead Silence are now audible. No more will you be flanked by chumps sprinting in fluffy slippers. They'll be the same as everyone else. You're welcome.


​​Restock is a very strong perk, and it's the fourth one on this list. Perk slot two is wild. In Warzone, it recharges your equipment over 50 seconds. That means Claymores, Semtex, Stun Grenades. All of the goodies you've been chucking at baddies will be recharged, hopefully in time for your next fight. It's best used by more aggressive players looking to constantly push foes with explosives, or by campers who want to set up a wall of mines and lock down all points of entry.


The newest perk to enter this perk slot is still really good! Honestly! Having a faster re-plating time can be the difference between victory and defeat, and the fact that you only need two plates to get to full health rather than three means you'll run out far less often in the late-game. Pick it when you're in need of armour with a quick loadout drop towards the end of the match, and pair it with a Fully Loaded weapon so you can be buffed up and ready to enter the fight right away.

Best choices for Perk 3

This slot used to be a foregone conclusion until recently. Now, it's a real choice between some real powerhouses.


Amped is the classic pick for perk slot three. Coupled with Overkill, it'll let you swap your weapons far faster, as well as letting you use equipment more quickly too. It's brilliant for swapping between your AR and SMG, or your sniper and sniper support weapon at short notice, and helps massively with surprise engagements. It also just makes your weapons feel that bit more snappy too, and is a really good go-to option, particularly when you're using slightly slower handling guns like LMGs and heavy ARs.

Combat Scout

Combat Scout is a real banger of a perk. When you hit an enemy, it highlights them in bright red for you, making it extremely easy to hit your follow-up shots even if they start to run away. It also marks the foe on your map for your teammates, letting them snap onto them and get shots away without you even pinging. Since its addition it's been a real tough choice, and I enjoy using Combat Scout whenever I'm decked out with a long-range gun I don't think I'll be switching from, or when using a run-and-gun SMG class. Of course, this won't work against someone running Cold Blooded, but for everyone else it's brilliant.


Tracker lies quite far away from the top two as a perk to use, but it has its uses. Being able to run behind enemies and see their footprint trail is super handy when ducking in and out of buildings and chasing enemies at close range. It's easy to fall into the trap of focusing on the steps rather than the road ahead though, so stay focused and you might just enjoy using Tracker.

Best Warzone Perks - Slot One



Nobody ever wants to take defensive options, but the recurring Warzone meta of spammable RPGs makes this one a must-have. E.O.D reduces the damage you take from non-killstreak explosives, making an RPG blast far less likely to end a good run, giving you the opportunity to fight back against those who do nothing but camp rooftops and pepper players who dare climb the 14 flights of stairs needed to reach them.

It’s not going to save you from Airstrikes or any other killstreak-obtained explosive assault, but once you’re comfortable with the windows E.O.D affords, seeing a Grenade icon pop into view won’t suddenly send you into a panic.

Double Time

Call of Duty has always been what’s known as a run and gun shooter. Nobody takes things slowly in this game. We’re not walking on walls like entries from a few years ago, but it’s still far from the tactical gameplay Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Valorant players pride themselves on.

For that reason, Double Time is a must-have for anyone not planning on running an RPG build later in the match. This first perk in the game doubles the duration of Tactical Sprint, giving you plenty of breath to get in, out, or deeper into combat. It’s the kind of perk that organically reduced the time between fights, keeping the action flowing and your senses on high alert.

Better yet, it’s useful for the tactical players, too. Crouch movement speed is increased by 30%, so paired with something like Tracker, skulking around buildings with an SMG in tow feels more like general gameplay as opposed to a slow crawl.

Best Warzone Perks - Slot Two



Another semi-defensive perk on first inspection, Ghost actually allows for far more aggressive gameplay. It stops you from being spotted by enemy trackers like UAVs and the dreaded Heartbeat sensor. You’re told when there’s an enemy UAV pinging you on someone else’s map and typically switch to a more cautious playstyle in response. But heartbeat sensors and radar drones are far harder to anticipate.

With Ghost active, you won’t ever have to live with the fear of someone spotting you with a fancy bit of tech. Surprises in Warzone are never good, and this perk works to eliminate them from the tactical equation.



A stable of Call of Duty’s illustrious past, Overkill is for those who have no interest in paltry pistols or advanced RPG tactics. It’s for those who can’t decide on their favorite weapon or playstyle.

Overkill allows you to equip two primary weapons: one in each slot. But forbids the use of secondary weapons. Make the commitment, and you can build classes that snipe from the roof one minute, and parachute down to become a close-range monster with an SMG the next.

Twice the guns, twice the firepower, sort of

Hyper-aggressive playstyles are facilitated by Overkill, but the versatility it affords can lead to some dangerous plays.

Best Warzone Perks - Slot Three



Amped has likely lead to your death more times than you can remember. Its primary benefit is faster weapon switching, but given it doesn’t work on side-arms, its use depends on Overkill--a skill the pros don’t use much these day. As a bonus, it decreases RPG reload times. There’s your ticket.

Amped facilitates infamous RPG builds. Whether they’re in an approaching vehicle or not, the RPG can take out whole squads in a flash. It’s particularly powerful when used to defend corridors and rooftops.


Tracker perk

Unless you’re playing in a squad that sticks together, taking Tracker for yourself gives the kind of key intel you need to make the right call time and time again. Tracker displays enemy footsteps on the ground so you can see recent movements in your area.

Having concrete evidence of an enemy’s movements can give you a very strong advantage, but you don’t have to take their exact path when hunting them down. That’s what they’d expect. Instead, use the footprints as a reference and find a back entrance to their position. The element of surprise is key.

As a bonus, Tracker also displays enemy death markers and hides those of your own kills. So while you can’t use Tracker to hide your whereabouts from other users, it can be used to work out if prey you’re stalking have it, too.

Best Warzone Perk Loadouts

Now that we’ve identified the two best perks for each slot, it’s time to match them into the perfect loadout. If you’ve read the point carefully, you should have no issue working this out for yourself.

The All-Rounder
